Vivegam– Box Office Performance & Reception
Vivegam, starring Ajith Kumar and directed by Siva, was a highly anticipated spy action thriller that featured Ajith in a never-before-seen ripped six-pack avatar. His intense physical transformation and Hollywood-style action sequences generated massive hype before release. With grand production values, international locations, and intense action sequences, the film created huge pre-release buzz. Ajith’s physical transformation and stylish portrayal of an intelligence officer were widely appreciated, along with Anirudh’s powerful background score.
However, despite the grand scale and high expectations, the film failed to impress a majority of the audience due to its weak screenplay and over-the-top execution.
The film opened to a massive Day 1, collecting around ₹33 crore worldwide, making it one of Ajith’s biggest openers. However, mixed reviews and a complex screenplay led to a decline in collections after the first week. Vivegam managed to gross around ₹126 crore worldwide, but it failed to cross the breakeven mark, ending up as an average grosser. While it performed decently in Tamil Nadu, its high budget meant that it didn’t achieve a hit status. Despite the setback, Vivegam remains notable for its stylish execution and Ajith’s dedication to action-packed roles.
