Box Office Performance & Verdict

“Meiyazhagan” (released as “Satyam Sundaram” in other versions) starring Karthi and Arvind Swamy, hit theaters on September 27, 2024 (Tamil version) and September 28, 2024 (other versions). The movie received good reviews from both critics and audiences. Even though it faced competition from other Tamil films, it managed to get a decent number of screens in Tamil Nadu and other important markets. On its first day, “Meiyazhagan” collected ₹5 crore, which was a slow start at the box office, it collected ₹1.50 crore gross on its opening day in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Throughout its theatrical run, the film earned ₹35 crore net in India, with a total gross of ₹41.3 crore. In international markets, it made ₹12.25 crore, bringing its worldwide earnings to ₹53.55 crore. Despite these numbers, the movie was considered an average performer, covering its production costs mainly from Indian collections.

Although its theater run was just average, “Meiyazhagan” found a strong audience on Netflix, where viewers appreciated the performances of Karthi and Arvind Swamy.
